Whether you're looking to give something back, learn a new skill, make new friends or simply have some free time that you'd like to spend on something important. There are many groups and organisations in the National Forest that support our work and are looking for volunteers like you to join them.

Heartwood Community Woodland Group

The purpose of Heartwood Community Woodfuel Group is to increase the supply of sustainable wood fuel, promote a woodland culture enhancing local woodland habitat and provide broader opportunities for community engagement.

Heart of the Forest Volunteers

The Heart of the Forest encompasses an area in the centre of the National Forest of around 10 square miles, and we are now looking for volunteers to help us enhance some of our sites in this area, including Conkers, Albert Village Lake and more.

Heart of the Forest Heritage Group

A group of volunteers who share an interest in our local heritage. We work together to tell the stories of our past; our industries; the everyday lives of families and the unique story of the landscape change across the Heart of the National Forest.

Whistlewood Common Volunteers

Whistlewood is ten acres of community-owned land in Melbourne, South Derbyshire, designed along permaculture principles so that it will work for people, for wildlife and be a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Rosliston Rangers

Join in with the Rosliston Rangers and help out with a wide variety of tasks to help manage the amazing habitats at Rosliston Forestry Centre. including tree work, conservation and wildlife surveys.

Burton Conservation Volunteers

Local wildlife and conservation group dedicated to improving the environment, promoting wildlife conservation, encouraging community awareness for over 30 years in and around Burton upon Trent and further afield.

National Forest Way Rangers

Help maintain the National Forest Way, our 75 mile length walking trail by helping to install waymark posts, maintaining vegetation and mending stiles to conserve and enhance the beauty of the National Forest so it can be enjoyed by all.

Plant trees

There are many ways to plant trees in the Forest, why not join us for a planting event or dedicate a tree.
